Welcome to Rosen Class
We are one of the Year 1 classes at Beddington Park Primary School. Our class teacher is Miss Cahalin and our teaching assistant is Miss Bygrave. We are named after an author called Michael Rosen. He has written some of our favourite books including: ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, ‘Little Rabbit Foo Foo’ and ‘Wolfman’. He has also written our favourite poem, ‘Chocolate Cake’. We love listening to this poem because it is very funny!
We have a bright, colourful classroom with lots of resources around the class to help us. Our independent learning, that we do at home, is displayed proudly at the front of the class for everyone to see.
As we are growing, we are developing our independence. In English, we look at lots of different stories and relate to different characters and themes. We also learn about poems, instructions and have comprehension lessons, which help us to understand important messages within our books.
In Maths, we are developing our understanding of numbers through fun activities. We use number lines and hundred squares to help us to count on and back. We also use clocks, cubes and shapes.
In Science, our topic is Animals – including humans. We will be focusing on life cycles and different animal groups, as well as looking at the human life cycle and how our bodies change.
In our class, we always make sure we are trying our best and are being kind to others.
We have a Year 1 class bear called Betty that will come and stay with you and your family for the weekend. Please do not forget to give her lots of cuddles and keep her safe!
