Shine a Spotlight on Friendship

At Beddington Park Primary School, our motto is Learning, Sharing and Growing Together as Friends. We are so proud of the way that the children enjoy learning together, take care of each other and are positive role models. When children are learning to become a good friend and are developing their social skills, friendship issues can sometimes arise. To help the pupils resolve these issues, Miss Flint has designed ‘Shine a Spotlight on Friendship’ with the children. Children can discuss with an adult (or with each other) which spotlight they feel best represents them and other members of the class at a particular point. Doing this helped to develop the children’s understanding of what they can do if friendship issues arise and when they need to ask an adult for help. Since she designed this approach, a number of other schools have shown interest and we are very pleased to have given our permission for them to use this too! Please do support the school by encouraging the use of these spotlights in your discussions at home. Click here for a PDF of this scheme:  Shine a Spotlight on Friendship
