So your child is joining us in Reception? Wonderful!
Welcome to our schools and welcome to our community! Much of the general information that you will want to think about, can be found on our Admissions page, so make sure you click on this link to visit that page too!
This particular page is designed to supplement the Admissions page by giving you all the Reception specific information and paperwork in one handy place – we hope you enjoy it!
Our Reception Classes:
All of our classes are named after children’s authors to reflect the love of literature that runs throughout our whole school. We have two Reception classes, called ‘Carle Class’ (after Eric Carle – author of, amongst many other things, The Hungry Caterpillar) and ‘Donaldson Class’ (after Julia Donaldson – author of, amongst other things, The Gruffalo series). Both classes are linked by a large and well resourced outside play area and a vibrant and exciting Foundation Stage area.
Carle Class is taught by Mrs Browne and Donaldson Class is taught by Miss Nuttall.
Both Reception classes have full time Teaching Assistants (as do all of our classes – right the way up to year six!). The Teaching Assistant for Carle Class is Miss Dixon and the Teaching Assistant for Donaldson Class is Miss Bygrave. Both Miss Bygrave and Miss Dixon are fully trained and qualified in working with Foundation Stage aged children.
So, what do I need to do ahead of my child starting?
Starting school is an important, fun and exciting time! Like us, you will want to get everything right for your child, and who better to help than Mrs Saunders?
Mrs Saunders and her team do a wonderful job of managing and coordinating all of our school admissions. She is the ideal person to speak to to help you through the process of starting the school, so feel free to contact her with any questions you might have! Mrs Saunders manages all aspects of our school office, and is often available to speak to on an informal, drop in basis.
Prior to starting with us, you will need to complete a series of forms, which will provide us with the information that we need before your child can start. An initial contact form will be sent to you in the post. Please complete this straight away and return it to Mrs Saunders. Further paperwork will then be available at a welcome meeting, which you will receive an invitation to.
Please be very careful and thorough when completing all documents, as we will use them for a series of important purposes, such as ensuring that all allergies and food needs are properly catered for.
The contact forms are especially important, as they list those people who you are happy to collect your child. Please note that we will only allow those people named to pick up your child. If you decide that you would like somebody else to collect your child, we will need you to first introduce us to them personally before they can be added to your list. It is also vitally important that all phone numbers listed on the contact forms are kept current, and that mobile phone numbers listed relate to phones that are kept on throughout the day. We must be able to contact you (or your named representative) on behalf of your child, quickly and easily at any point in the school day.
We very much look forward to your child starting with us in either Carle or Donaldson Class. Congratulations on gaining a place at our school and welcome to our community – we look forward to a wonderful and productive journey of learning and discovery together!
