We are a ‘Green Flag’ school!
That means that we have a recognised commitment to actively conserving our environment and acting in a ecologically friendly way. There are only just over a thousand schools who have qualified for Green Flag Status in the whole country. Our children are very aware of the excellent work that they do in this respect, and our pupil ‘Eco Warriors’ meet regularly to discuss environmental issues and look at how our school can continue to make a difference.
Our pupil Eco Warrior team are led by Miss Shipley and Mr Allam, who now take over the wording on this page to tell you more about what they do!
Miss Shipley and Mr Allam write:
“Eco Warriors are chosen from across the whole school to represent their classes and to support the school in continuously improving our environmental performance. We have achieved the accreditation of being an Eco School; however, we need to maintain this status.
The Eco Warriors help by carrying out various roles in the school including; collecting the recycling, completing litter picking to keep our school grounds tidy, reading our energy meters so that we can monitor our energy usage and attending regular meetings to discuss environmental issues.
During October and November, it was their role to remind everyone how to save energy by switching off unnecessary lights and electrical equipment and reporting any leaking taps.
As an ECO School one area of focus is sustainable travel; finding a way to travel to school in a more “Eco friendly way” such as walking, cycling, scooting or Park and Stride – ASDA are our official Park and Stride partner.”

How do the children get selected to become Eco Warriors?
Each year, children are asked to apply for the position of Eco Warrior! This year, the children were asked to create a presentation demonstrating what they could do to help our school become more environmentally friendly. We had some outstanding entries! They were so good that we wanted to share them with you all.
